Sonnenenergie und Selbsthypnose: Die »Solar Impulse 2« ist gelandet

The Piccard Family (Documentary by Otto C. Honegger) {15:22}

Veröffentlicht am 03.03.2013
Up in the air or down in the deep, breaking records is what the Piccard family has been good at for three generations.
But their record-setting projects have all served the purpose of research, and the current representative, Bertrand, is no exception.

Watch this documentary to know more about the Piccard familly!

Bertrand Piccard tackles challenges that others consider impossible. He completed the first ever non-stop round-the-world flight in a balloon, and is the initiator, chairman and Pilot of the “Solar Impulse” project: a solar airplane which is going to travel around the world in 2015 without a single drop of fuel. Psychiatrist, he draws from his hypnosis training and his interest in Eastern philosophies a different look that puts the human being and their quality of life in the foreground.

Schweizer Himmelsstürmer - Mit dem Solarflieger um die Welt (Doku HD) {43:39}

Solar Impulse 2's Unexpected Landing In Nagoya - Bertrand Piccard Explains {1:17}

Veröffentlicht am 01.06.2015
A solar-powered plane attempting a round-the-world flight has cut short the seventh leg of its journey, landing in Nagoya, western Japan, due to bad weather. Here you can listen to Bertrand Piccard's explanations.

Solar Impulse 2 left Nanjing, China on Sunday (May 31) to fly over the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii. The plane, which is covered in solar cells, took off from Abu Dhabi in March.

The journey across the Pacific Ocean was expected to be the most difficult stretch of the journey.

Overall, the trip was expected to span approximately 25 flight days broken up into 12 legs at speeds between 50 and 100 kph (30 to 60 mph).

===================
Juli 2016 erfolgreich in Abu Dhabi.[89] [Solar Impulse, Weltumrundung, Verlauf, Wikipedia]

Solar Impulse - Best of First Round-the-World Solar Flight, Hawaii - San Francisco {9:48}

Veröffentlicht am 02.05.2016
The Golden Flight
It took Amelia Earhart 18 hours to fly solo from Hawaii to California. It took Bertrand Piccard 62:29 hours to follow her footsteps but without fuel, 81 years later, completing the Pacific crossing initiated by the record-breaking flight of André Borschberg.
A flying symbol during Earth Day, broadcasted live with Ban Ki-moon and 175 leaders at the UN, Solar Impulse touches down at the heart of Silicon Valley, land of NASA astronauts Bertrand met in his childhood, who inspired him to become an explorer. Let’s make #futureisclean's positive message resonate in the Bay: clean technologies are a solution to the environmental challenges of our time.

Fly Across America with Solar Impulse: San Francisco to New-York - Best-Of {12:56}

SOLAR IMPULSE
Veröffentlicht am 29.07.2013

http://www.solarimpulse.com In 2013, Solar Impulse 1 crossed the United States of America from coast to coast, from San Francisco to New York City. Here's the best of it, in case you missed it! Solar Impulse has completed the historic crossing of the United States, west to east, over a 2-month period in the summer of 2013. On the footsteps of aviation pioneers like the Wright brothers and Charles Lindbergh, Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg underwent the coast-to-coast challenge to spread a message demonstrating what can be done with the spirit of innovation and with clean technologies. This year's mission was made possible thanks to the support of Solar Impulse partners Solvay, Schindler, Bayer MaterialScience, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, SunPower, and the Swiss Confederation. The "Across America" mission at a glance: • 3-4 May 2013: First leg San Francisco/Moffett Airfield -- Phoenix/Sky Harbor • 22-23 May 2013: Second leg Phoenix/Sky Harbor -- Dallas/Fort Worth • 3-4 June 2013: Third leg Dallas/Fort Worth -- St. Louis/Lambert Airport • 14-15 June 2013: Fourth leg St. Louis/Lambert Airport -- Washington DC/Dulles via Cincinnati • 6 July 2013: Fifth and last leg Washington DC/Dulles -- New York/JFK WHAT IS SOLAR IMPULSE ?
