"Das Schachbrett des Teufels"

Interview mit dem Allen-Dulles-Biographen David Talbot
Nur wenige Menschen haben den Verlauf der Geschichte im 20. Jahrhundert nachhaltiger beeinflusst als der Wallstreet-Anwalt und CIA-Chef Allen Dulles. Selbst im Ruhestand rangierte der mächtige Strippenzieher im US-Establishment noch über dem Vizepräsidenten. Historiker ziehen es überwiegend vor, das in vielfacher Hinsicht unangenehme Thema auszulassen, obwohl Dulles’ Intrigen zum Verständnis der 40er, 50er und 60er Jahre und dem Geheimdienstwesen der USA unerlässlich sind.

Nun erschien im Westend-Verlag eine deutsche Fassung der beeindruckenden Biographie Das Schachbrett des Teufels - Die CIA, Allen Dulles und der Aufstieg Amerikas heimlicher Regierung, die weder die Verstrickungen des Intriganten mit den Nazis noch dessen zentrale Rolle beim Kennedy-Attentat auslässt. Autor David Talbot ist Gründer der unabhängigen journalistischen Plattform Salon.com und fungierte u.a. als Herausgeber des linksliberalen Magazins "Mother Jones". Talbots gefeierte Biographie "Brothers" (2008) über die Kennedys wurde ein Bestseller. Während er in "Brothers" die Attentate auf die beiden Brüder nur am Rande behandelte, löst Talbot mit seiner Dulles-Biographie überzeugend alle wesentlichen Rätsel des Kennedy-Puzzles.

David Talbot gave a talk on the topic of his recent book, The Devil's Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America's Secret Government, in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Talbot reveals the history of CIA's heads of states assassinations, overthrow of government, and killing of JFK under the direction of Allen Dulles for the benefit of American Capitalist and ruling class.

This is a MUST read book, which is in the process of being translated in Dutch, French, and Farsi.

Second annual Social Justice Week at Sonoma State University (organized by students of the Sociology Club with Peter Phillips and co-sponsored by Project Censored among many other groups) presented many great panels, speakers, and opportunities for dialogue and the growth of activism around many issues. The kickoff keynote was delivered by journalist, historian, David Talbot. Mickey Huff had the honor of introducing David and emceeing the evening. The talk was based on Talbot's latest book, The Devil's Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America's Secret Government. He related historical events to present affairs and a lively discussion followed the talk.
