Werner Herzogs neuer Dokumentarfilm begegnet der digitalen Revolution 

Leonard Kleinrock, einer der Pioniere des Internets, führt Werner Herzog durch die Hallen der University of California. Sein Ziel ist ein kleiner, unscheinbarer Raum. Zu den ersten Tönen von Wagners Rheingold öffnet er die Tür. Eine riesige Maschine steht wie ein Kühlschrank in der Ecke des Raums. Es ist ein "Mini-Computer" aus dem Jahr 1969. Das erste Bauteil der Technologie, die die Schöpfung des Internets möglich machte.

Zu den Bläsern aus Wagners Oper fährt die Kamera über die Hülle des riesigen Rechners, schaut in sein, mit gewaltigen Kartuschen gefülltes, Inneres. Mit Hilfe dieser Platinen wurde die erste Nachricht über ein Netzwerk von einem Computer an einen anderen Computer geschickt. Es ist die Geburtsstunde des Internet, der Ausgangspunkt für die Explosion der Informationstechnologie, durch die der Film in zehn Kapiteln führt.
