Philippe Petits Tanz zwischen den Türmen neu verfilmt: The Walk

Früh am 7. August 1974 lief ein Mann auf einem Seil in atemberaubender Höhe zwischen den beiden gewaltigen Türmen am neuen World Trade Center in New York hin und her: Der Franzose Philippe Petit 24-Jährige überquerte acht Mal den Abgrund - in 400 Meter Höhe, ohne Sicherungsseil. Der Film „The Walk” schafft mehr, als nur die Geschichte des waghalsigen „Coups” zu erzählen. Regisseur Robert Zemeckis („Zurück in die Zukunft”, „Forrest Gump”, „Verschollen”) gelingt dank 3D-Technik etwas Außergewöhnliches: Er bringt die Zuschauer neben Petit auf das Dach des Wolkenkratzers und auf das Seil, lässt sie tief in die Häuserschlucht blicken und den Sonnenaufgang über New York erleben.

Synopsis:
The Walk is the true story of a young dreamer, Philippe Petit, and a band of unlikely recruits who together achieve the impossible: an illegal wire walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. With little more than nerve and blind ambition, Petit and his ragtag crew overcome daunting physical obstacles, betrayals, countless close calls and overwhelming odds to beat the system and execute their mad plan.
