Eigentlich hatte Chansonnier Serge Gainsbourg den vertonten Liebesakt bereits mit seiner Verflossenen Brigitte Bardot aufgenommen, doch die machte einen Rückzieher – aus Rücksicht auf ihren Ehemann Gunter Sachs. Also stöhnte Gainsbourgs neue Freundin Jane Birkin 1969 den Part der Bardot neu ein – es entstand die Hymne der sexuellen Revolution.
In diesen Tagen, wo Popstars wie Rihanna über Sadomasosex singen, wirkt das Duett unschuldig, geradezu zärtlich – damals war es ein Skandal. Papst Paul VI. verdammte das Lied öffentlich und machte es so nur noch berühmter. Am Mittwoch feiert Jane Birkin ihren 70. Geburtstag. Ihren Durchbruch hatte die Tochter eines Marinekommandanten und einer Schauspielerin als 19-Jährige in dem Kultfilm der Swinging Sixties, "Blow-up" – sie war hauptsächlich nackt zu sehen.
